Video: Winter in Fenton, Michigan

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Some people live in Michigan because of the snow and ice season called Winter, not despite it. The following video presentation, originally found on YouTube, is a shining example about how wonderfully beautiful and fun a good snow storm in Fenton, MI can be.

Feeding the Ducks on Lake Fenton

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Lazy summer days, feet dangling in the still cool waters of the placid lake. That’s what Michigan living is all about. We are truly blessed to be able to experience all four seasons. Even the bitter cold of winter makes us appreciate days like today so much the more. The video that we would like to share with you today captures the simple pleasures of enjoying a nice, warm day feeding the ducks on Lake Fenton.

Big Wind Storm Hits Fenton, June 2008

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Fenton June 2008 Storm DamageNearly eleven months after the big tornado ripped up downtown Fenton, Michigan and much of the Dibbleville area, a sizable storm with strong winds takes out trees and property on the north side of the city.  At approximately 4:45 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2008 a heavy storm line brought destruction and loss of power to many Fenton area residents.  Power may be out for a few days as temperatures climb well into the 80’s.

Fenton Michigan Storm Damage 2008Tree limbs are torn from their sturdier tree bases and crush the white picket fence along South Long Lake Road on the north side of town.  The street is open to traffic now, though splinters of wood along the road and piles of brush along the road still show evidence that this was no small rain storm.

Wind Storm Damage June 2008 Fenton

Smith, Peabody and Stiles Insurance along Torrey Road in Fenton did not get hit, but their property lost a couple of very large trees.  The dark areas you see in the photo are the root bases of these very tall trees which span the length of approximately two cars each.

Fenton Trees Before Tornado of 2007This Saturday, the 26th of April, 2008, many people will join together to assist in replacing two the 4000 trees that were lost or damaged in the city of Fenton during the tornado last year.  Pictured in this article is a photo near the Fenton Community Center taken not long before the tornado changed the Fenton skyline forever.

The Beautification Commission and the Fenton Tree Restoration Committe is spearheading this Saturday’s event.  The event will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Volunteers and donors are still being sought, and anyone who can help is asked to call City Hall at (810) 62-2261.

Snow on the 13th of April in Fenton

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

As a sign in town suggests — April is the month where the green returns to the grass, the trees and the IRS. Tax day is just two days away. And what do we awake to the morning of April 13, 2008? SNOW.

You read that right … snow. This has been one intense winter with the freezing, thaw, freezing, thaw, freezing, thaw pattern. Alternating between shorts and snowshoes this spring is really getting old in this person’s opinion. We are certainly looking forward to the day where we can be confident to put away the snow shovels and break out the bathing suits.
