The Fenton Freedom Festival parade will be held this Saturday, July 4th at 10:00 am

Jinglefest 2008 looked absolutely beautiful under the glimmer and shimmer of the new fallen snow. Jinglefest started out as Christmas in Dibbleville when a group of merchants pulled together to create the start of a marvelous Christmas festival for Fenton and surrounding areas. The Fenton Chamber of Commerce took the reigns and turned it into what we know as Jinglefest.

Stacy Lukasavitz was kind enough to share with us some of her pictures from the evening events at Jinglefest in 2008. Thanks Stacy!!

Eagle Point on Lake Fenton on the 4th of July 2008

Lake Fenton is the premier lake in Fenton, Michigan. It’s open to the public with a pay-to-launch public access facility. A handful of years ago, due to commercial development, a popular area of the lake for people to “tie up” and have a good time that went by the nickname “Pig Beach” was closed down. Now it appears that the peninsula on the south end of the lake by the nickname of “Eagle Point” is the new hot hang out spot.

In 2007, FentonSays captured a view of a fairly busy weekend out at Eagle Point. One reader suggested we take another look at it on the 4th of July. We did exactly that (see, we read what our readers have to say, and we respond!).

Arbor Day Will See More Trees in Fenton

This Saturday, the 26th of April, 2008, many people will join together to assist in replacing two the 4000 trees that were lost or damaged in the city of Fenton during the tornado last year. Pictured in this article is a photo near the Fenton Community Center taken not long before the tornado changed the Fenton skyline forever.

The Beautification Commission and the Fenton Tree Restoration Committe is spearheading this Saturday’s event. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers and donors are still being sought, and anyone who can help is asked to call City Hall at (810) 62-2261.

Fenton High Security Guard, Max, Busts A Move!

A Security Guard at Fenton High School, Max, takes a handful of seconds to amaze and impress the students at the Hip Hop Club Holiday Party. Max’ magnificent moves are memorialized in the following movie.

Christmas Rotary Program for the Children

The Fenton Village Players entertained the children at Rotary at Spring Meadows Country Club on December 11th. There were a number of children present in the audience.

Karen Craner narrated the program while other members of the Fenton Village Players acted out various characters such as Santa Claus and elves. In addition they decorated Lori O’Dell as a Christmas tree.

Rob Pariclikes provided guitar background music. A number of Christmas songs were sung by the Village Players such as Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, The First Noel, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and others.

The program was enjoyed by all, including the adults as well as the children.

Pam Buerger announced that the Fenton Village Players invite the public to go caroling with them on December 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested should meet in Freedom Park on Shiawassee Street.
