Jinglefest 2008 Pictures by Stacy Lukasavitz

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

Jinglefest 2008 looked absolutely beautiful under the glimmer and shimmer of the new fallen snow.  Jinglefest started out as Christmas in Dibbleville when a group of merchants pulled together to create the start of a marvelous Christmas festival for Fenton and surrounding areas.  The Fenton Chamber of Commerce took the reigns and turned it into what we know as Jinglefest.

Stacy Lukasavitz was kind enough to share with us some of her pictures from the evening events at Jinglefest in 2008.  Thanks Stacy!!

Fall is just around the corner. That means it is time to plan for hunting season. And if you’re a deer hunter that means deer camp. Come see this comedy written by Jeff Daniels and set in Michigan’s Upper Penisula. Not only is it a place to get together with old friends and go after a big buck, a deer camp is a modern version of the secret society of the past, with its own set of rules, and a lot of good natured humor.

Fenton Tornado Community Center Clean-Up

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

The still shot to the left was taken from “The Streets of Fenton” video series shot on July 11, 2007 … weeks before the tornado struck. The picture is of the front of the Community Center with the building off camera to the right. Notice all the lush trees on the horizon on the right. They are now gone.

This video footage presented below was shot on Friday, August 31, 2007 out front of the Community Center in Fenton, MI. Clean up efforts from the tornado continue, but the town has been returned to basically normal status. The area by the Shiawassee River on the south side of the Community Center used to be covered in trees, but is an open clearing now. People work on top of the Community Center. Heavy equipment is being used.

Garden Party for Cultural Center Huge Success

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Ricky Nelson, back in 1972, sung a smash hit called “Garden Party.” In the catchy tune, Ricky sings about being booed off stage at Madison Square Garden and concludes that “you can’t please everyone, so you’ve got to please yourself.”

Besides the title and both being smash hits, that is where the similarities between the Ricky Nelson song and the fabulous fund raiser end. This Garden Party, organized to help raise money for the construction of the Fenton Cultural Center, was a sold out show. Over 120 people attended in addition to the line up of local speakers.

This event, held at the Fenton Community Center auditorium on June 24th in the early afternoon, featured speakers from The French Laundry, Gerych’s, Cathy Vrh, Fenton Flowers & Gifts and Yard ‘N Garden. Master of Ceremonies, Kathy Williams, did a wonderful job. The luncheon served included a delightful garden salad cleverly served in clay pots with raffia ribbon, and an assortment of dressings presented in decorative watering cans.

A good time … a good cause … and maybe Ricky was wrong … maybe you can please everyone.
